Tom Chapman: A Mentor Cardinal and Kansas Jayhawk
Thanks for visiting this site. I want to tell you a little bit about Tom Chapman, but more importantly, I want to tell you about my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Who changed my life. I grew up in a great family with my Mom and Dad, a big Brother and little Sister in Mentor, Ohio. My sister, Linda, and I are the only two left, and I love her dearly. My intention in this website is to point you toward Christ. I have had a great life, but I want you to know, everything I have, any success that I have had, has been given to me. The only boasting I can do is in the Lord.
Sports was always an important part of my life, and as a youth I was given great opportunities. If you read on, you will see the names of some very familiar and great coaches that helped me along the way, both on and off the field. I also had some great teammates, many have become lifelong friends. I thank God for all of them. I put some pictures that are important to me, but please, I am praying that you will read on to the end of this website, the Bible passages I have printed there can literally change your life...eternally. God Bless. Tom Chapman

" The Word of the Cross is to those who are perishing foolishness. But, to those of us who are being saved, it is the power of God".
1 Corinthians 1:18
Tom became a Believer in Jesus Christ at the age of 29, in 1978. He served first as a Sunday School teacher for 4th and 5th grade boys, then a Deacon, Head Deacon, Congregational Chairman, Elder and Head Elder at Leroy Community Chapel in Painesville, Ohio. The Congregation at Leroy asked him to join the Pastoral Staff in 1997. While attending the "Stand in the Gap" event in Washington D.C. on October 4th of the same year, a speaker, Ronnie Floyd, challenged the men and said 'Some of you need to go home and become Pastors in your churches'. Tom took that as a message to him straight from God. He served as a Staff Pastor for 16 years at Leroy Community Chapel and at a church plant, Grand River Community Chapel, in Grand River, Ohio. An evangelist at heart, Tom has shared the Gospel of Christ not only here in the States, but in Haiti, Mexico, Cuba and Africa. He retired from the Leroy Chapel staff in 2014, on his 65th birthday, but continues to serve as a Pastor for the Lake County Jail Ministry, conducting Sunday services at the Lake County Jail in Painesville, Ohio. He is the Chairman of Lake County Jail Ministry Board of Directors. See www.news-herald.com/article/HR/20110101/NEWS/30101999

The Bible is the inspired Word of God. There is a real Heaven and a real Hell. Everyone is going to exist somewhere forever. Because of our sin, which we all have, we deserve to go to Hell. But God loves you. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to take the penalty for yours and my sin. He died on a cross; the death you and I deserve. Eternal life is a gift but it is like a "Gift Card" you did not pay for; you can ignore it, throw it in a drawer and if you don't accept the gift, it does you no good. You need to accept the fact that you can not earn eternal life, realize that it is your sin that Jesus died for and ask Him to forgive you and trust Him and Him alone as your Savior.
The Philippian Jailer asked the Apostle Paul and Silas "What must I do to be saved?" The answer was quick and simple, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved..." Acts 16:31
The Apostle John assured Believers in Christ of Salvation in Jesus Christ, the Son of God: "And the witness is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life. " 1 John 5:11-13
Anyone can be saved, but those who choose not to believe are lost.
"For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16-18
When God chose David, "a man after God's own heart", to be King of Israel over the people's choice, Saul, He told the Prophet Samuel,"Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
1 Samuel 16:7
The people asked the Prophet Micah, how do we please God? Micah said, "He has told you, O man, what is good; And what the Lord requires of you, but to Do Justice, to Love Mercy and to Walk Humbly with Your God." Micah 6:8
The Greatest Commandment is to "Love the Lord your God with all your Heart, with all your Soul, with all your Mind and with all your Strength.
Mark 12:30
God told His people, Israel, "...I have set before you this day Life and Death, the Blessing and the Curse. So choose Life in order that you may Live, you and your descendants. Deuteronomy 30:19
If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. For the Scripture says, "Whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed".
"Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved."
(Romans 10:9,10,11 and 13)
The simple answer is no. Salvation is a gift from the Lord, you can not earn it and it is not for sale. The Lord said, "For by Grace you have been saved through Faith and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, that no one should boast." Ephesians 2:8,9
You can not lose your salvation because you never earned it. The Apostle Paul says in 1 Corinthians 4:7, "And what do you have that you did not receive? But if you did receive it , why do you boast as if you had not received it? We are saved by the Grace of God, period. Our Salvation is secure because it is what Christ has done for us, not based on what we have done for Him.
"I am convinced that we will never be prepared to live until we are prepared to die..." Billy Graham
My question to you is, "Are you prepared to die? I know that if I am killed in an accident, die of cancer or fall over dead of a heart attack today, I will be with the Lord. For the Believer in Christ, "to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8)
"Therefore, if any man is in Christ he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ, and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore we are Ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
2 Corinthians 5:17-21
The answer to the question, "why share the Gospel with you" is that God loves you, and He gave me a real love for sharing the good news. The Bible says "The Lord is not slow about His promise (to return) but He is patient, not wanting any to perish, but for all to come to repentance."
(2 Peter 3:9)
I have been given a wonderful gift, eternal life. I want you all to have it too. I beg you to trust Christ, He loves you! Blessings, Tom
